Casper's Scare School is a 3D racing game for Playstation 2, developed by Data Design Interactive and published by Blast! Entertainment on February 1, 2008. The game is based on the 2006 movie of the same name and is the first game released in the franchise.

Overview[]

The game features a single player mode with 6 levels, which is limited to three game modes, one in which the player must collect items around the manor, another in which the player must win a race against other students, and the third in which the goal is to collect the students in Deedstown with the ship before time runs out. The game also features a multiplayer mode in which any of the six racing characters can be played in the lap races.

Levels[]

  1. Leaving for School: The first level is a race against time in which Casper's suitcase has bust open throwing its contents around his mansion so he has 400 seconds to find the 30 items before the school bus leaves to take him to Scare School.
  2. Driving to School: The player has 120 seconds to navigate Cappy's school ship to collect six classmates around Deedstown to take to Scare School before the bell rings.
  3. First Race: The first race between Casper and his classmates is around the school grounds.
  4. Second Race: The race takes place between the school corridors as well as the grounds.
  5. Gym Class: Another race competition, this time it takes place in the gym with polls to jump over.
  6. Thatch Race: In the final level Thatch has turned Casper's four friends, from the previous races, into stone. Casper must find each friend turning them back into themselves and get to his mansion before Thatch does.

Trivia[]

  • It is the first game in the Scare School franchise and one of two games to be based on the movie, the other being Casper's Scare School: Classroom Capers, while Casper's Scare School: Scary Sports Day is the only one that is based on the series.
  • The game's story is possibly non-canon, since it has no connection to the movie. It is not known if it takes place after the events of the film.
  • As is often the case in the franchise, the design of the Scare School is completely different, now with the main building being located in a haunted forest instead of on an island as in the series, or in an ocean as in the movie. Also, the structure of the school and the rooms seen are also entirely different.
  • Many elements in this game are recycled from the developer's previous titles, such as the layout of the mansion on the first level, which is reused from the "Great Hall" level in the 2007 game Casper and the Ghostly Trio.
    • Also, the game overall is identical to Casper and the Ghostly Trio, both in gameplay and graphics, so much so that it can even be considered a re-release of that game.
    • Casper's model is also reused from that game, making this the only time in the Scare School franchise that he uses his classic design.
  • The loading screen shows a slightly edited image of the original movie cover (which is also used on the game cover). Casper is in a slightly changed position and has black eyebrows and different eye colors. Ra has his eyes more open and Mantha is in a slightly modified position. The design of the worm coming out of Casper's apple is also completely different.
  • Deedstown is the only place that stays true to the original design, seen in the movie.
