The Valley of the Shadows is the banishing place for creatures that are nice and not scary, in other words, that do not preserve the Balance. It is one of the most feared places in the Underworld, although it is shown as a paradise for nice creatures.
Biography[]
Kibosh gets tired of seeing Casper as a friendly ghost and decides to give him one last chance to adapt to the creatures' nature, ordering him to be sent to Scare School to learn how to scare, instead of being banished to the dreaded Valley of the Shadows.
Casper asks his uncles about the Valley of the Shadows, and they are not allowed to say much, but reveal that he may never return if he is banished there, and that the same thing has already happened to their aunt, whom they considered very special to them.
At Scare School, after Casper has shown unacceptable behavior, the principals call him in for a talk and tell him about the Valley of the Shadows, telling him about the painful life he can have there, making him even more afraid of being banished.
Casper later, after being forced to scare his best friend, Jimmy, goes to the Valley of the Shadows on his own. As he is about to enter, a big evil shadow illusion of himself appears in front of the portal, and tries to frighten him and make him give up going in there, but he eventually resists. When he finally enters, he sees that the place is exactly the opposite of what he thought it would be; peaceful, pleasant and fun. There he meets his Aunt Spitzy for the first time, who tells him about the place and introduces him to Belle and Murray, who are the aunt and uncle of his school' principals who have also been banished for being too nice.
After being informed by Woodward about Alder and Dash's plan, Casper tries to convince all the residents of the Valley of the Shadows to help him stop them, and asks them why they have never tried to leave, to which they reply that there is no reason since it is the only place in the world where they can be themselves. Casper convinces them, saying that they should not let the others humiliate them for being friendly, and so they all join together to go to Deedstown and stop the principals.
After the principals are finally stopped from going through with their plan, Kibosh allows all the creatures, including the residents of the Valley of the Shadows, to party with the humans on the football field. Kibosh also tells Casper that he was friendly just like him in the past and that he knows how hard it is to grow up and learn how to scare.
Appearance[]
The Valley of the Shadows, despite its frightening name and being feared by the entire Underworld, is a very calm and peaceful place, a paradise for friendly creatures. The entire place is inhabited on green ground, with walls and decorations of grass. The place is also full of many flowers and mushrooms. The place has a golf field and a pool for the inhabitants to play in, as well as a place where the creatures play a different kind of game that resembles ping pong, but with the ball being held in a yellow tentacle.

- The Banishment to the Valley of the Shadows is possibly a reference to Kibosh's banishment in the previous movie, Casper's Haunted Christmas, which involved him sending into a black void.
- The Valley of the Shadows never appears or is mentioned in the series or later titles in the franchise.
- The child residents (including Harpy) appear as Scare School students in the TV series.
- Belle and Murray, Aunt Spitzy, and the other adult residents never appear or are mentioned in the TV series or later titles in the franchise.
